Thelma
Tom Cruise has been real quiet since this dropped.

A big part of what makes this film hit home is the dynamic between Thelma and Daniel. Fred Hechinger has this natural charm that makes his awkward, slightly lost persona feel genuine instead of forced. It never comes off as try-hard, which makes his moments land even more. June Squibb, on the other hand, is effortlessly great as always. She brings so much warmth, humor, and quiet strength to Thelma that you can’t help but root for her. Together, they really carry the film. Their chemistry feels authentic, and the relationship between grandmother and grandson is portrayed in such a sincere and grounded way. It’s not overly sentimental, but it still captures that kind of love that’s patient, protective, and deeply personal.
