It Ends
An interesting metaphor stretched a bit too thin, carried more by vibe than actual escalation.

Same anxious dystopic slow-death vibes The Long Walk gave me, and ends up being very relatable even with the characters you don't immediately get along with. Solid as hell for a debut!

This could be a very good trip ideas with friends. Go watch this with friend and you will be feel the most depressing yet thrilling never ending trip!

I really enjoyed the concept, i love liminal space movies, as well as stuff with time loops and stuff so that mixed with a younger cast kinda providing one of my favorite genres, coming of age, i was actually pretty excited to watch this. And to be honest, i wasn’t disappointed, it’s a nice watch. The chemistry is there, i like the delivery of the dialogue, it’s an actual accurate representation of Gen Z, and overall with the movie relying on literally 4 actors the entire time their performances were great. There is a lot of questions that are left unanswered, some for the best and some for the opposite I believe. Overall, I think it’s done really well and I can see myself returning to it in the future if I want a good watch. I might love it more than the average person due to my biases for things like nature, coming of age, late teen, one location type of films, but i think even if i remove that you can still find a great watch in this. Definitely a film that I hope is able to get to more people’s eyes because it’s fun and enjoyable. Shoutout letterboxd for giving this a spotlight.

James be like, “where’s this turn at?” is ironically the longest i’ve laughed at a joke in a while.

“𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦?” If the end of the world is some lonely Asian guy eating a cliff bar and crying, count me out. Corners the horror and hysteria in a moving vehicle in the woods. What could happen but everything? The day changes but the road doesn’t. One without turns. One without room to breathe or see the difference society makes The conceit is strong, playing with the form of Waiting for Godot, kids wait for the worst to exorcize from themselves through intimate confession What the film champions is the simplicity of cinema. If you really look at it, the film is made up of friends, the woods, a car, and extras. Nothing more, nothing less. You don’t need much to comprise conceit for a film. In the end, what Ullom wants to portray is the purgatory that all Gen Z currently lives in. Where It Follows (https://letterboxd.com/bulgogiboi/film/it-follows/) examines the aesthetics of tweenhood by mere representation, presentation of mulled out feelings and despair are aired out. What is a life lived if it must be constantly presented over Instagram stories, spams of memes in dm’s, and a photostream that lacks a life lived. Perhaps this has always been the problem, only magnified through a film like this during a time when the world feels hopeless. It’s hopeless that is presented on screen. It’s our anxiety that is represented on screen. And though the actors feel natural in their approach to teenhood, not much rises other than conceit. An interesting follow up, but one that meditates on the current cultural climate. “𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦.”
