March Around the World '24 (5/30): Hong Kong 🇭🇰. Hong Kong cinema is mesmerizing, inspired either by the neon tapestries shown in the cinema, and by the action characteristic of other masters such as Kurosawa (pretty homage to that auteur specifically) or John Woo, Johnie To presents a canvas as experimental as it is referential in said signature, delivering an exciting and masterful film in every sense of the word. A story about frienship, ambition, and battles, this worldbuilding is terrific, with some of the most crafted and excellent coreography in action scenes and cinematography, also a very personal touch on the story, drama, and also humor, a very stylish one.
