A Chinese Ghost Story

A motor-driven ghost story like no other—fast, fun, and even ghastly, I really wasn't expecting to have this much overwhelming enjoyment while watching A Chinese Ghost Story. Reminiscent of The Evil Dead franchise—except wackier and even a little more amusing—this action-comedy-horror is a whirling eruption of laughs, scares, and awesome special fx. Kung-fu and wires, swords and explosions, ghosts and floating heads! Considering its slow start, nothing had me prepared for this film's love for creating out-of-this-world and original fun, while also showing a lot of love to its many influences. Yet, in the end it's still a wildly imaginative and bonkers movie. Has to be seen to be believed. 4.2/5
