Diary entries forDunkirk
Dunkirk
i'm just saying chris nolan is a mastermind for putting cillian murphy and harry styles in a movie together, even if they don't have a single scene together
Dunkirk
the first time i tried to watch this i was not ready. cinematically and intellectually. i was mostly ready now. this movies is insanely beautiful and imaginatively mystifying. how in the world did nolan make this. go back in time? somehow that would be more believeable than whatever the actual story is. it genuinely looks like the cast and crew went back in time and shot the evacuation. the sheer scale of this production blows my mind. thousands of extras, period accurate set pieces, wardrobes and vehicles. a who’s who of Nolan’s finest acting crew. however, the story is alright. and i don’t really see a reason for this to be nonlinear. my high rating is carried by the fact that this is one of the coolest movies to watch (with your eyes and less so your heart). imax makes this all the more beautiful. side note, tom hardy was putting bta the entire time.
Dunkirk
The story is deep and hard hitting, and shows the horrible nature of war. The scenes are literally beautiful, with some of the greatest shots I’ve ever seen. At times it feels very depressing as the story is so deep, however I still thoroughly enjoyed this.
Dunkirk
The experience of viewing this in a loud theater opening weekend with my friends will never leave my memory Harry Styles I love you
Dunkirk
Cagey production-- the time/perspective shifts greatly reducing the scale of an otherwise massive operation. Nailed the claustrophobic, metal coffin terror, though.
Dunkirk
This is not a review. This is an appreciation. I watched every single Christopher Nolan film from start to finish: Following to Oppenheimer, and I saved Dunkirk for last. Seeing that 100% hit felt like closing a book you didn't want to end. Dunkirk might be the most intense film I've ever seen. I was on edge and stressed for the entire runtime eating my cuticles without even realizing it, which rarely happens. Hans Zimmer's soundtrack alone gives me goosebumps every time the man understands tension better than anyone ever lived . And Nolan understood something most war directors don't: you don't need to explain war, you need to make someone feel it. No backstory, no speeches, just survival stripped down to its bones. Tom Hardy carrying a whole film behind a mask again. Cillian Murphy traumatized again. Some things are just right. What makes Nolan untouchable isn't one thing it's everything together. The casting, the stories, the timelines, the dialogue, the obsession with doing it practically when everyone else went digital. There's no one doing it like him. Not even close. Now waiting for The Odyssey. He'll always be my favorite. This was the perfect film to end on.
Dunkirk
Dunkirk is one of the most impressive cinematic feats every to grace the big screen. Christopher Nolan's filmography has been impressive thus far, but nothing that he has directed even comes close to what Dunkirk manages to achieve. Seeing this film in 70mm film is the only way to experience this film. It's hard to say that a film is the best of its genre, but it's easy to see that Dunkirk is the greatest war film of all time. This film will resonate with every single person who watches it. Dunkirk is a masterful achievement in cinema that is remarkable in every way imaginable.

Cillian murphy ❤️
Dunkirk
IM THE ONLY ONE IN THE CINEMA THAT SHOUTED 'YOU'RE DOING AMAZING TOM HARDY" BECAUSE THAT MAN DESERVE OSCAR BY HIS EYES ACTING
Dunkirk
The story’s mainly about survival with two other plots revolving around it and in the end everything ties together nicely. But idk this is the first time I’ve felt like something’s off from a Nolan film. Overall, I’d say it’s one of his weaker films.
