Sense and Sensibility
A great film. The ending is absolutely fantastic when Hugh Grant finally admits his love for Emma Thompson, the only reason this isn’t a five star is due to some pacing issues in the middle but apart from that it really is a masterpiece. Great performances all round and the sets are absolutely fantastic, it made me laugh when the girls were complaining about living in a ‘cottage’ which is probably worth millions in today’s market.
Sense and Sensibility
incrível a capacidade da jane austen de escrever personagens secundários tão inconvenientes e irritantes.
Sense and Sensibility
Just... marvelous. Don't think I'll ever be in the position of adapting a book to the screen, but if I do I'll be taking those notes from Thompson here. I'm pretty sure I never made it through this one back then, getting fed up with Grant's Edward just not. being. able. to. speak. up and out... as his characters sometimes did. But I'm very glad to see it all the way through today and note how he did, finally, get the words out, with Emma gasping for air behind it and us lining up to collapse along with. Best viewed with wine, exchanging pained glances, and yelling at some of the audacity on display.

Sense and Sensibility
❝Believe me, Marianne, had I not been bound to silence I could have provided proof enough of a broken heart, even for you.❞ • ───── ✬✥✬ ───── • Normally I'm not a big fan of period book adaptations, especially romance ones, but Sense and Sensibility stole my heart. I regret not watching it sooner. Firstly the plot was great; it was pretty faithful to the book minus some details. It wasn't slow-paced but I felt that it would've been nicer to see more of Marianne and Brandon's relationship develop before the marriage, as well as maybe see Elinor and Edward get married. The settings were gorgeous, and I'm glad the natural scenery was utilised well in the relevant scenes. The buildings were also beautiful, and I would've liked to see more of Norland and Mrs Jennings' London house. Emma Thompson did a fantastic job as Elinor; she perfectly portrayed the quiet and sensible nature of her character. Kate Winslet was also great as Marianne, although Marianne was quite annoying at times. Both Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman were perfect as their respective men too. All in all, this was a lovely film and one I'll rewatch frequently.

Sense and Sensibility
Sorrow. It's just something everyone has to experience. The disappointment of a broken promise, to the reveal that the person we loved may have never truly loved us back. Sense and Sensibility suffers from pacing issues at times, as well as lackluster cinematography and flat lighting. Yet, when Willoughby lifted Marianne off the grass, I just couldn't hate it. It is a heartwarming and melancholy feature, with its first half featuring a loving blanket of comfort and joy. Then, when the feelings of warmth are at their height, it all comes crashing down. Hollowness and emptiness remain, with no one truly understanding the great turmoil that goes on in their heart. That's what made the experience for me, the contrast and the real bond you feel between all the girls.
