The Intruder

The Intruder follows in the footsteps of films like When a Stranger Calls and The Strangers, some staples in the horror genre. While it may not be as iconic or noteworthy as the mentioned films, The Intruder still holds it's grounds as a solid thriller. It was refreshing to see a campy thriller, since superheroes and horror have seemed to be the focus of many films lately. With fantastic performances by all in the cast, we get a gripping and entertaining thriller, leaving you on the edge of your seat until the final, very satisfying end. The characters are people that you genuinely can root for, rather than feel nothing if something happened to them. While it isn't a perfect film, since the dialogue was a bit blocky, and some of the delivery of the lines felt off, it added to the camp factor, which made the film all around fun to watch. It's a shame that the crowd that I was with didn't seem to enjoy the film, with about half of them resorting to going on their phones, rather than watch the film. Altogether, The Intruder is a fun thriller with genuinely likable characters, which is really refreshing in the end.
