Frenzy

Hitchcock goes to London for this thriller which keeps you hooked till the very end. The acting is good, however the accents used are so strong it can be hard to understand what they’re saying without subtitles. A good film which Hitchcock fans will enjoy.

Frenzy

Frenzy

I had forgotten that I had watched this before as soon as I saw the opening credits. A beautiful sweeping shot of London and the doubling of images at sight of the London Bridge. I had first watched this in a Hitchcock-Nabokov writing course that revealed a lot of similarities between the two. Mirroring occurs throughout. Everything comes in pairs. Life and death. Love and lust. Sex and violence. It’s as if one can not exist without the other. In Hitchcock’s most violent thriller, he does not hold back from the delicacy of the body and the indelicacy of of brutality. Murder is a sleuth. Its grimness hides in the periphery of the public eye. All we have are assumptions and presumptions. Even the eye does not provide facts. With Hitchcock, seeing is not believing. What matters only is the anger and passion of the public.

Frenzy
