Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Probably my second least favorite Mission Impossible movie to date. It has a lot of problems with it. From the majority of the opening part of the film being dedicated to an extended "previously on" segment, to some of the more beyond belief set pieces, I think that the biggest problem was that you never really felt like there were any high-stakes in the movie. They mention over and over again about how everything needs to go right in this very complex plan, but you as the viewer just know everything is going to be ok. I probably would have been more upset, but the cast is still electric with their performances and the action is still excellent, if a bit by the numbers now at this point in the series.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

The finale wasn’t as mind-blowing as i hoped, but the emotional moments really hit and the action is still top-notch. tom cruise and the cast bring it, and fallout remains king, but this is a worthy send-off. Flaws included, but i’m still all in.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

there were moments in this movie that were so laughably unrealistic the theatre chuckled. but that’s kinda what these movies bring, and more so over the evolution of the franchise. particularly all of the scenes involving the cold water - ethan should have been dead like instantly. the first act was incredibly in ur face expositiony which was a bit annoying. somehow there were like three macguffins explained within a few minutes.  last act was solid. plane fight was cool, stunts looked ridiculous. i feel like i went into this expecting a No Time To Die situation, but no - seems like tom cruise could be making these movies til he is 80. more power to him. entertaining, and did what it was supposed to do, had some funny moments but i just prefer the slightly more grounded Bond type films to these. i loved tramell tillman in this. i wasn’t sure if it would work but it did. the right amount of mr milchick mixed with something new.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

As much as I did enjoy this, the franchise is starting to feel a bit samey and repetitive at this point. Sure, Tom Cruise is fantastic in this as he always is and it’s always fun to see him perform this amazing stunts, but the stakes almost feel low at this point. In this there is one major character death and it comes right at the start, I feel it’d of been a lot better to have this at the end, a great sacrifice to save the world forever, and as bad as this sounds more of the main cast should’ve died. Also, Greg Tarzan Davis‘s character is absolutely pointless in this, he does nothing and even has a line saying near the end where he says something along the lines of ‘I’ve done nothing’. No idea why he’s even in this to be honest but oh well. Some of the action sequences are fantastic but I think this is a great place to let the franchise rest. Let’s be honest though we’ll probably get another sequel in 2030.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Legacy mode [derogatory], Finally Reckoned with. In the last ten hours or so of impossible missions, that final villain incident with his plane is gonna' be the only image I take with me.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Mission: Redundant The Mission Impossible franchise has fallen so far that after nearly three hours of Final Reckoning, all we got were: dumb dialogues, a villain straight out of a Cartoon Network show, a bunch of completely unnecessary characters, and a bloated old man who still does impressive stunts — but looks painfully out of place on screen. The plot is empty, the pacing is off, and even the action — once the franchise’s greatest strength — feels recycled and emotionally weightless. It’s as if the filmmakers tried to force an epic conclusion without having anything meaningful to say. The only things worth mentioning are a couple of solid set pieces and an interesting soundtrack. But that’s nowhere near enough to save this overstuffed mess. In short: the worst entry in the entire franchise. A disappointing finale to what was once a legendary series.
