Feel sorry for Bok-Nam because she had to live on an island full of mean mothers and a harsh patriarchy, an island full of bastards. I didn't like the ending, but I was very satisfied with the way the revenge was done even though it took a long time for it, but this movie managed to make my blood boil. Also Hae-Won is very useless to be there.

man, the real horror of this movie is the domestic violence and the way elder women supported and encouraged it, watching Bok-nam being beaten by her husband and saying she deserved it for trying to leave. the implication that Yeon-hee was being groomed by her step father. all the men being creepy perverts. i guess this is kind of like a Korean 'last house on the left'/'i spit on your grave' (i haven't seen the originals tbh just the remakes)

Hooptober 8: Film #6 Bedevilled Pretty brutal and downright depressing. I wish the kills woulda been more extreme though. It’s kind of your typical revenge thriller with a slow-burn style that doesn’t get really crazy until the last 30-45 minutes. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel or anything, but overall I enjoyed it. It made me feel pretty sick to my stomach multiple times throughout. So good work there, movie! 7/10
