Paradise Now

“They must understand that if there’s no security for us, there will be none for them either.” A thoughtful exploration of what life under occupation in Palestine is like. The indignity of it, the cruelty. PARADISE NOW is probably one of the only feature films that I’ve watched that tackles this topic with a sense of purpose, clarity, and nuance. There’s no dodging or side stepping the reality of the situation like most films that are set in that region often find them guilty of. For a film that was nominated for an Oscar you would think that it would have received more attention over the years, but then again—perhaps not. No Other Land (https://letterboxd.com/film/no-other-land/)still has yet to receive wide distribution despite its Oscar win. Never doubt that your ignorance is by design and the powers that be are relying on it and your complacency. Free Palestine.
