Little Amélie or the Character of Rain
This movie rips your heart out and then mends it back together. I am in shock that this film isn't understood to be the best animated film of the year by awards! Probably one of the most emotionally impactful films of the year (second closest I came to crying), and while I haven't seen every animated film from this year (not even close lmao), I still feel confident in saying this is the best animated film from this year. Exploring themes of grief and cultural differences through the lens of Amelie was heartbreaking at times, but at others, you feel jolly because of her innocence in a way where whenever she discovers something new, you gain the largest grin ever. Part of me is pissed that I watched this film because now it's going to make me even more angry when watching the Oscars, and I'm already beyond pissed about Jesse Plemons' and Chase Infiniti's snubs. 9/10, possibly top 10 of 2025 releases.

Amelie is so cute and the animation for this movie is so beautiful and refreshing to my eyes, I don't think I've ever seen animation like this. It's something new! Maybe the story here is a bit heavy, because it shows the thought of an adult in the body of a newborn child, Amelie is only 3 years old but seems to have problems like adults 20 years+.

com certeza é a animação mais linda que já vi, é tão tocante, vibrante, marcante, simplesmente perfeito. queria que levasse esse Oscar mas quase certeza vai pra kpop hunters

Le film d'animation le plus beau que j'ai vu de ma vie, avec une histoire qui m'a assez touché pour me faire couler quelques larmes, le tout avec un subtil commentaire sur le traumatisme intergénérationel et les conflits de nationalité. Chaque image atteste de la qualité d'une illustration professionelle sans jamais faire de compromis sur la complexité des éléments ou l'harmonie des couleurs. Mon film préféré de l'année, et de loin.

“Já que deixarei o Japão, perderei Nishio-san e as montanhas, serei expulsa do meu jardim, e tudo que eu tenho será perdido… tenho que lembrar de tudo” é nesses momentos que você percebe como a arte é o que move todos nós, como um filme tão simples pode te tocar de maneiras que você considerava impossíveis, como a história de uma pequenininha pode te fazer lembrar de valores que as vezes ficam esquecidos a medida que você cresce

you cannot say that this film is not beautiful and well made however HOW am i meant to root for a little girl who does nothing but talk about herself as god and scream bloody murder all within the first 20 minutes

Oh to be a child and experience the world as it is , being fascinated with every little thing life could offer . Beautiful piece of work . Felt like a warm hug . The scene where Nishio-san explains the concept of death and war to Amelie was beautiful . And the scene Amelie asks why is there a month for boys but not girls was hilarious . Gorgeous style of animation and a soulful score . I loved Zootopia 2 and I'm yet to watch Arco and Elio but I would really , really be happy if this ultimately bags the award .
