nothing scarier and more off putting than the cult that is american christianity. the score is insanely good, like truly didn't expect to love it this much. the story didn't really hook me as much but it still was a great film.

An amazing film from every standpoint, TWBB is one of the darkest films I’ve ever seen. It’s depressing, brutal and scary whilst also showing the harsh realities of early 20th century America. There are so many themes and ideologies on display which make for interesting ideas and theories. Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing in this but at this point everyone knows that. It’s a truly great film.

I know them studios want tent-pole material to assert their domination of culture & commerce & franchise unto the heat death of all things, BUT... this really does make a compelling case for what that there mid-budget stuff can do for ya.
