The Artist

Enjoyed this much more than I originally thought I would, The Artist is a fun time. Sure, it’s a pretty basic story, but it tells it well with a fantastic performance by Jean Dujardin. It’s hard to show emotions without words but here it’s done excellently. Good film.

The Artist

For someone who has been wanting to get into silent film, The Artist seemed like the natural choice to begin with, and I am so glad that I did. This film honestly is one of the most stunning films that I have ever seen. It's a shame that I had put this film off for so long, only because it's silent, since it is a beautiful film. I wasn't sure how I was going to like a full picture without any audible dialogue, but it was surprisingly easy to watch. The story was engaging, the characters were likable, and it had some of the best cinematography that I have ever seen. While they are two different films, the overall aesthetic of this film reminded me a lot of last year's Cold War, with the beautiful black-and-white being the focal point of the film. I cannot wait to revisit this film, especially after I watch some more silent films, so I can really appreciate what they did here (at least, more than I already do). The Artist is one of the most stunning films that I have ever seen, and I am very glad that this is the first film in my dive into silent films.

The Artist

A 2011 silent black & white film like this shouldn't be so fascinating. But, wow, it is. For all those b&w haters out there, it's not mine or anyone else's problem to give a damn. The Artist is pure amusing and shockingly momentuos.

The Artist

The Artist
