Set, properties, acting skill, camera shot : Expensive Story, premise, editing : Cheap (it looks so wattpad thingy) The expensive things make this movie looks good visually but the story? Nah it's worst and generic. I'm not expecting too much about this movie actually, the vampire family looks hot tho.

To say The Invitationis mediocre at best honestly would be a compliment to it, so I’ll just say it how it is- this film is bad. Bland, uninspired, cliched, with the only saving grace being from the ever-so charismatic Nathalie Emmanuel, playing the lead. There’s nothing in this film that feels original or well-thought out, only offering husks of ideas that could be interesting if more effort had been put it to make this genuinely interesting. Also, was there something going on with the sound design? Outdoor scenes sounded like they were shot in an empty room, which completely took me out of the fantasy (not like I ever was in this fantasy).

Sometimes you just want a junky schlocky film that knows exactly what it is, and that’s exactly what this is. No pretensions, just a big dumb, goofy, gothic romance/horror film, with just enough blood and “nudity” to make it titillating without slipping over into anything flagrant. Just a genuinely fun film. Is it a five star best picture? No but it’s a five star damn fun time. I know that there’s apparently no intention of there being a sequel, and I’m not sure it was enough of a success to justify one, but I wouldn’t mind spending more time in this universe, and with Evie exacting revenge/protecting the world. 2022 Ranked (https://boxd.it/fSyMM)
