Delicatessen has the bizarre charm that comes with many French films, especially when it comes from the filmmaker who created the ever-so-charming Amélie. With a much darker, and complicated, plot, Delicatessen shows the power of one location with an array of quirky characters in wild situations. It did take me a bit to get into the film, since I was trying to figure out exactly what the plot was, and the importance of the characters, but as the film progressed, I found myself being drawn into the bizarre world. While it may not be as strong of a film as Amélie will be, Delicatessen is still a delightful treck into post-apocalyptic mayhem.
