82/100 It’s actually incredible how life really is a movie. They dramatised a few things even though there really wasn’t any need to and they almost stuck the landing. Niki’s monologue at the end almost brought a tear to my eye. In some ways this film is not just about their rivalry but about their views on life, sure they have the love for racing in common but James views racing as a thrill and a means to enjoy more of the world outside and Niki views racing as a passion and talent and that’s all that really matters to him. They tried to show him quitting at the end as a means to make Marlene happy and show that he values something more than racing and maybe that was true but in that race, it wasn’t. It’s a beautiful story and rivalry with surprisingly more racing sequences than I anticipated to be. It’s fun, sexy and exciting with decent writing and great acting. We need more great F1 movies because I know there are many great stories in that world.

Damn near perfect racing film in existence. CGI, story, cars, actors everything… except for that damn zoom/focus thing they always did for some reason in the first two acts (thanks Adi, now I can’t unsee it). Oh also Hans Zimmer score is always a win.

Fazendo uma comparação direta com Ford v Ferrari, aqui acho que a direção do Ron Howard não é tão precisa quanto a do James Mangold. Com o Daniel Brühl pra lá de inspirado interpretando Niki Lauda, talvez o roteiro poderia ter se aproveitado mais disso e se aprofundado um pouco mais no pessoal de cada um dos personagens, o problema talvez fosse a falta de range que o Chris Hemsworth entrega como ator, mas com uma direção um pouco mais em cima, talvez conseguisse entregar. O que vale dizer é que pelo menos pra mim, a parte que muitas pessoas criticam, é algo que eu mais curto. Que é a fotografia. Baita trabalho de colocar a gente dentro dos carros da F1 e de sentir o fervo que pode tá passando a milhão na cabeça do piloto. E o color grading foi muito certeiro pra agregar valor nessa fotografia. Uma comparação que eu acho bastante interessante entre Ford V Ferrari e Rush, é a trilha sonora. Não que a de FvF seja ruim, em muitos momentos, a trilha sonora agrega absurdamente melhorando mais ainda uma cena que ja era épica. Mas a digníssima trilha sonora de Rush, feita pelo Hans Zimmer é sensaciona. Ela tá presente em quase todas as cenas do filme, com arranjos bem mais concisos entre um diálogo e um som de um motor aqui e ali, tento seu ápice no comecinho da corrida do monte fuji, - em uma cena perfeita em todos os aspectos - que sempre vai me deixar arrepiado.
