Made me feel the times of the Roman Empire. Exactly the feeling I was looking for and every actor and the director Sir Ridley Scott made me realize that the perfect films does exist.

sabe aqueles filmes/livros q se passam em reinos e impérios antigos com histórias fantásticas q te deixam com uma vontade avassaladora de estar vivenciando tudo aquilo? tipo game of thrones, percy jackson e etc? esse n é exatamente o caso pq entre lutas e guerras eu estaria ocupado demais participando de todas as orgias romanas organizadas

Loved this. Joaquin Phoenix plays one of the all time great villains, just straight crazy. He wonders why people betray him when he killed his dad and tries to f*ck his sister. Probably not the best idea. Iconic scene after iconic scene makes for a very easy and fun watch.

Gladiatortruly is a film of epic proportions, with lavish sets and dramatic monologues found throughout. It’s quite reminiscent of epic films from the 50’s and 60’s, which made for a unique watch, as we get to experience one within more modern standards. Scott’s vision, however, was a mixed bag for me. There’s a lot of exposition here, dedicating nearly a third of the film to tell the tale, when it easily could have been trimmed some and still retained the same messaging. There are moments where you’re completely tuned in, and others that drag and leave you wanting the film to be just pick up the pace and get to the interesting stuff. I still found it to be a very entertaining watch, but it certainly didn’t live up to the hype that I’ve heard for so many years.
