The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run changes course from the previous films to fully embrace 3D animation, which does make the film look fantastic, but I really couldn’t connect to this one. It’s definitely not my style of humor anymore, but there were some jokes that actually were pretty funny. The characters were the same, the voice actors were the same, but it really didn’t have the essence of Spongebob - it was as if this film was an empty shell of the characters, only possessing the superficial aspects of these characters. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect with this film, and it was an enjoyable watch, I just wish that it had more of what made the televison show so enjoyable and memorable.
