Jamie Bell's powderkeg performance is great, and Nattiv directing it's really skilled... but this left me with a taste of less. At least, it's way respectable than the awful short film.

I'd consider Skin to be the second strongest film of the nominated short films. It's also the most shocking of the bunch, which I believe is the reason why it stands out so much in my mind. This short went to places that I was not expecting whatsoever, and apparently the crowd I was with thought the same, since there were many audible gasps at the climax. It will be very interesting to see how this short translates to a full-length feature, since the length here seemed perfect for the story. I'm very glad that I had the opportunity yet again to catch the live action shorts in theaters. I was going to stay for the animated shorts, but seeing as that I have already watched them, I left during the intermission. I may not be able to watch every nominated feature this year, but these shorts certainly get me much closer to finishing the categories off.
