The Forever Purge

Notice how all the negatives reviews are from sensitive Americans and you’ll realise why this has such a low score. The film isn’t a cinematic masterpiece but it’s a fun time which is entertaining throughout. The acting is great, the story is tight and the portrayal of Americans seems pretty accurate. If you’re mad that this portrays racists as the bad guys I think that’s your own problem. A fun time and a scary look at terrifying this reality could be. Watched at Vue with my beautiful ❤️

The Forever Purge

The latest installation into the Purge franchise wears it’s influence on its sleeve, being one of the most relentless entries into the franchise when it comes to political messaging. It’s been interesting seeing people get upset that this film is so outspoken about the political motiviation, when the rest of the films are equally as political, they just aren’t as blunt about it. Is it that Americans need to be slapped in the face with politics before they get it? That being said, The Forever Purge is a decent film, with some likable characters, but I wish that the focus had been on the two main characters. When the film is openly criticizing the current political climate when it comes to immigrants, you’d expect that there would be an emotional connection to the Mexican leads, yet the emotional pull is put toward the rich, white family that they work for… a move that I found to be very confusing when looking at the context of the film. Even when the two leads of the film are Mexican, they couldn’t have the emotional tie be to them, which is a pretty damning move in the end. As for the placing of this within the franchise, it’s a middle-of-the-road film. It does exactly what its supposed to do; show Purge violence with social commentary. It was a fun concept, and was drastically different than the last film, which made for a pretty good time. It did end up becoming pretty predictable in the end though, with some villains that I didn’t care for whatsoever. It’s a shame that the villains were so weak in this film, since there was a lot of setup for a fizzle when it came to who was participating in the “forever Purge”. Still, it was so much fun to get to see yet another Purge film in a theater. There was a pretty large crowd when we saw it, it’s just a shame that they didn’t seem to be having as much fun as I was with the film. It still was a great feeling to be back in a theater, and I hope that I’ll have even more chances to catch up on films that I’ve been meaning to see this year (I’m looking at you Zola).

The Forever Purge

"This is our last stand" This one I liked more than I was expecting I might even say it's in my top 3 of the franchise it does have 2 confusing scenes because they were previously in The First Purge (2018) which happens ages before this but this one had the best and most wholesome ending. It also I would say is the scariest in the franchise. plus that ending scene left me wanting more from this franchise. I doubt I'll watch The Purge TV show but if I do I'll review it on my serialized account. In bio
