The Glass Castle
True stories can always be tricky, especially stories where the people being adapted are still alive. The goal, typically, is to keep the story as true as possible, making the story play out on screen. The Glass Castle is a remarkable story, as well as a heartbreaking one. Brie Larson's portrayal of Jeannette is one of this year's most emotional performances, as well as one of the best. Woody Harrelson seems to be having quite a year, between this and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, since his role here is simply stunning. The Glass Castle is a novel I desperately need to read now, since this film was truly moving and beautiful. This may end up being one of the gems of the year that many people overlooked, but sadly doesn't get the recognition that it deserves.
