The First Purge
Bad acting, an even worse script and awful cinematography, the first purge is terrible. It feels like a cash grab with no heart or soul put into it. Itโs quite funny in places, but not scary at all. Still, itโs an easy watch if you just want to chill.

The commentary works way better than the execution, which made this nearly unwatchable. The script is so bad, the flashes again, the constant โmotherfuckers.โI just canโt anymore. From the get-go this franchise shouldโve been made like the Scary Movies, but the seriousness of the movie coupled with the horrendously bad acting makes this so bad.

As for the Purgeseries, it seems that the films are co tinually growing stronger and stronger with every film, with The First Purge being an astounding addition. Blending out current political culture with the graphic nature of the Purge, this first Purge becomes the scariest yet. As far fetched as this series is, there are some hints of the real world throughout. Itโs interesting seeing the reactions to this film, as many people are not enjoying it, which is interesting when considering the fact that a majority of the cast is African American. This change from the typical white Purge films is exactly what the series needed, especially when paired with the politics that are involved, as they do mirror what life is like for many African American individuals today. The First Purgeis a surprisingly relevant and intriguing addition to this series. As this is the strongest film yet, it will be interesting to see what else is produced in this universe. Every good series has a turning point, and Iโm hoping this film isnโt the turning point, but rather a new beginning for a franchise that continually impresses.

"Our neighborhood is under siege gentlemen from a government who doesn't give a sh*t about any of us. Now there's a lot of good people out there who we gonna have to protect now. See the NFFA forgot about one thing, they forgot about us. This is our home. So let's show these mfers never to f*ck with our island again" I honestly didn't really like this one at the start but the last 50-40 mins I enjoyed. It was interesting to see how the purge was started and to see actual revolutions against it. Dimitri kinda carried the last 50 mins tho lol
