The Disaster Artist

I don't really know what to say about this one. I'm not a huge fan of The Room, ironically or not. I think its iconic scenes are funny to watch out of context, but watching the film in its entirety is a pretty unexciting experience. I do think that this is a more entertaining watch, but overall I'm more impressed at the fact that it was made at all. There's a group of people out there so passionate about this weird little independent film that was made 14 years prior that they came together to make a film about its making. That's cool.

The Disaster Artist

The Disaster Artist follows one of the most infamous films of all time, The Room. It's hard to be a film fan and not have heard of this film. Knowing myself, I have tried to avoid this film as much as I can, knowing that I wouldn't enjoy it as much as others do. It's a film that I do need to watch, but a film I am comfortable not watching for a long time. The Disaster Artist gives a glimpse into everything the happened behind-the-scenes, giving audiences a view of who Tommy Wiseau is and how this film was created. This is an interesting film with some strong performances, but it's not a film that truly stood out for me. Maybe it's because I heard too much about this film and heard far too many quotes from The Room, but this film just didn't click with me. Maybe once I watch The Room and give it some time before watching it again I will enjoy this film. Until then, it's just an average film about a film that everyone knows and I have no interest in watching whatsoever.

The Disaster Artist

โWe're actors, Greg. For you, me, people like us, even the worst day on a movie set is better than the best day doing anything else.โž ยท ยท โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ยท๐–ฅธยท โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ ยท ยท I felt like I was cracked out of my mind the first time I watched The Room, so it was fun to see 'behind-the-scenes' and know a little bit more about the actors. James Franco did very well in embodying the spirit of Tommy Wiseau, but I felt like the film was trying too hard to show more of Tommy's personality, when in reality he was pretty mysterious. Dave Franco is an awesome and pretty underrated actor, and in my opinion, the better Franco brother. He was really good as Greg and contrasted with Tommy's craziness perfectly. There were a lot of cameos and small roles I was surprised by since they were filled by other famous actors, like Josh Hutcherson, but they were all great. The pacing of the film was good, and it never dragged; there was some nice camerawork too, but the comedy is what really elevated the whole thing. The Disaster Artist was a cool watch and I would highly recommend it to fans of The Room or Tommy in general.

The Disaster Artist

An interesting and sweet movie that is somewhat ruined with revelations of James being an absolute shit head.
