Hooptober (4/31) --------------------- Things are gettin' hungry out there! I still have so many films to explore on the subject, but that lingering, slow-and-steady camera work giving us the feeling we were engaging with some zombie bedrock material. And I think it was the actual shark wrangling that locked us in our seats, sealing the deal.

There’s a reason why this is one of the most influential zombie films ever created. It’s use of tension and gore created a dynamic that wasn’t exactly present in Night of the Living Dead, creating a much more exciting zombie experience. Voodoo definitley was a different take on the genre, but I bought into it. It’s a shame that I waited so long to watch this film, since it honestly was a fantastic addition to the zombie genre.

HOOPTOBER #4 ZOMBIE MOVIE 4 ___________ running awful late with this challenge. alas, this is what I expected. getting back to Italian horror (which will make frequent appearances throughout this challenge) with a pretty decent zombie movie. it’s what I usually expect from Italian horror at this point: somewhat stilted dialogue and kind of bland protagonists that are made up for by some really good gore effects (splinter to the eye anyone?) and also a zombie fights a shark. not making this up, you can see it for yourself. it’s on tubi. poob has it for you.
