Tourist Trap
Cheesy at times, but quite good, Tourist Trap is a fun and campy horror film that I actually really enjoyed. Thanks to my new subscription to Shudder, I have access to a bunch of horror films that I've been meaning to see, and Tourist Trap is one of them that I have been really wanting to see. From the opening scene, this film is just fun. It's a bit ridiculous, but fun nonetheless. It feels like it took the idea of House of Wax and just modified it to add some supernatural elements to it, but it's essentially the same story, which I don't mind. It's a very similar concept, but this film is completely different than House of Wax, showing that a similar idea can be taken in many different directions. Tourist Trap really is a fun film that I do want to watch with some friends, having a good time watching a campy horror film.
Tourist Trap
A Bay of Blood: A Ranking of Slashers (1974 - 1990) (http://boxd.it/IoH8) Equipped with the pack of teens who stumble upon a bizarre killer in America’s backcountry, Tourist Trap is director David Schmoeller’s take on a Texas Chainsaw Massacre-type slasher, full with twisted obscurity and dark humor that makes for a fairly engrossing watch. This 1979 horror is no doubt fun, but like many slashers of its kind, it is a well distant rival to the Tobe Hooper classic.
