Day of the Dead

Shoot, I think something clicked a little more while watching this one, and the last couple get even more positively re-appraised in this one's glow. Some tasty morsels here, entertaining and gonzo as it is incisive-- a critique that'd be lessened if not for the wonderful over-the-top qualities of these doomed pits everyone holes up in. Because it's an already over-the-top world, theirs was an already over-the-top past, you can't just muscle through it on good graces/intentions. That muscle will be torn out while your heart's still pumpin', you gotta root around for something more.

Day of the Dead

Practical effects go crazy in this one! Really interesting story, better zombie makeup, and a zombie with a gun? Brilliant. Intrusive thought: Bub was just a chill guy, I loved the part where he had headphones on listening to music.

Day of the Dead

It's...fine. As I understand it, this film has a cult following (probably due to it being the lesser of the trilogy). There's some good stuff here. I like the effects and makeup, it's really good stuff coming from Tom Savini and Greg Nicotero My issues stem from the fact that it's just not interesting. In fact, it's quite boring. The characters are all very one dimensional. There's nothing as complex happening as there was with "Night of The Living Dead" and especially "Dawn of the Dead". There's some interesting stuff happening with the science of these zombies but it's never as interesting as it could be. Characters make choices for...reasons? Truly I cannot for the life of me understand why Miguel chooses to let the zombies down into the bunker. Revenge on the troops? Sure but they would also kill the people who saved him. It's just too messy The over-the-top acting gets a little too much at times and unlike the previous film, there's nothing to counter-balance it. Almost every character is a stereotype. On top of all that, this film just feels cheaper. Not really a fan

Day of the Dead

I definitely enjoyed this more than the previous two. This one has a lot more of everything the others were missing. The zombies are by far the best in this one. I really liked that whole Bub thing. Some parts can be boring but the zombies make up for that. The gore/blood just got even crazy this time and I was shocked. This one finally had some horror aspects that I can appreciate. The characters are pretty ok, the main standouts are John and Logan. I really liked that relationship between Logan and Bub. I'm glad they went into the more scientific aspect, and how it all started in this one. It's really interesting seeing all of that. My only complaints would be the army guys, and those weird Sarah dream sequences. Besides that this was a good zombie film with tons of gore and insane moments.
