300 is the type of film that I’d normally expect to not be a major fan of, yet here I am with this rewatch, finding myself genuinely enjoying myself. Snyder’s vision for the film is grand and is able to pull it off for the most part. I’m not sure if it was just the 4K copy I picked up, or the lighting in my room, but some scenes seemed far too dark and completely shifted the aesthetic of the film, but wasn’t so bad to where I wouldn’t be able to actually enjoy the film. It’s gritty, it’s gory, it’s a “manly” film in every sense, but man, is it fun. I had so much fun watching this film while the family watched the Super Bowl, and I’d honestly rather watch this any day than sports, since this is far more entertaining. It’s an assault on the senses that pulls you in and takes you on a wild journey. So, so much fun, I honestly can’t wait to watch it again, hopefully in better lighting this time so every scene looks exactly how it should.
