I actually really like this renaissance of these comedy action movies set in the 80s with just the right amount of nostalgia and a whole lot of grain, I mean it was excessive in this movie in particular - some scenes were borderline unwatchable but a decent viewing experience overall. Some cool quotes too - “Nothing is more dangerous than a man who’s been humiliated.” “Most people are average because they don’t know the difference between inconvenience and opportunity.” I thought the first one just sounded cool but didn’t apply to this movie in any way. Keifer Sunderland who’s always an evil badass got his ass handed to him by the ultimate badass in Jamie Chung. The second quote however hit deep, it applies to everyone running away from their goals including me. Kiernan Shipka played a dumbass who struggled until she hit the jackpot and no the jackpot was not the bag full of coke, it was the dynamic duo of Frankie and Dylan. The Lebanese inclusion was just pure old fun. They made the movie imo and really just gave it the zazz that it was missing until that point. A fun little movie that doesn’t offer much but that setting and time period with current generation editing skills and quality just hits right for me.
