Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror
Horror Noire is the comprehensive documentary showcasing African Americans in horror. It has an excellent ensemble, each giving fantastic insight into classic horror, as well as modern horror. As someone who enjoys horror, I have noticed these tropes used very often, and it is very interesting to see where these were rooted from, and how they're being broken away from at the moment. This has been my most anticipated film of the year thus far, and I'm beyond glad that it surpassed all of my expectations. This is a fantastic documentary for anyone who loves horror, as well as anybody who enjoys film, and shows how you can properly give minorities proper representation without relying on boring tropes. I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the book as a companion to the documentary to really get a good understanding of African Americans in horror, so I can better myself when advocating for proper representation.
