Tombstone
When I was younger, I was at a point in my life where I confidently called this my favorite movie of all time. So I wanted to revisit it and see if it held up to what I previously claimed. And wow, things CHANGE! To start us off, most of the characters are not likable. The main character is a massive douchebag and the other main character is drunk for most of the run time. It was mostly the side characters (like Sam Elliot and Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) who were either interesting or likable. Main characters lacked in those departments by a lot. Another nitpick I had with this film is Kurt Russell's acting. Sometimes, he was not doing a decent job. There was a moment in the movie where he repeatedly said "no!" and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take him seriously. He also tried acting like a tough guy, but his voice is unsuited for this role. Enough with the bad and the ugly, now on to the good. This story is amazing. While some characters couldn't capture me, the story made up for that massively and got me incredibly invested during the second half. And again, not all characters were bad. There were some gems in there too. Another thing that I enjoyed was the production design and the costumes. Funny enough, I was a cowboy for Halloween this year so I was searching for spurs, and thank god Tombstone delivered. I was also thrilled to see the costumes, cowboy shit gets me excited. Another huge strength of Tombstone is its historical accuracy. I had no idea before watching Tombstone that the movie was based on real events. So with everything said, I think the good of the movie slightly outweighs the bad and I'm logging this in at a 7/10.
