Beverly Hills Cop II

80/100 “Is this a black thing?” Sol Campbell copied this I know for certain, man just put colour in its place. This movie is surprisingly as good as the first one and I loved the first one. The action is bigger, there’s such a good flow of events and it’s just a constant barrage of investigation, bullshitting and Axel flaunting his past life skills. I loved it. Bad Boys 2 ripped this shit off. Of course Eddie Murphy the og in all these comedy action films. Billy was a proper menace and his enhanced role was such a good watch. Taggart was the same old man chugging along for the ride but you know he has your back. I love the chemistry between the three boys and yes the villain was less of a talking point this time around but it didn’t matter because our dream team was just taking us along for a ride through Beverly Hills. The ending was incredibly satisfying and I genuinely had such a good time with this movie. It was funnier than the first film, it was an Axel F bluff masterclass, it’s the kind of bluffing that my dad would watch and think this shit can be done in real life like mister, that’s Eddie Murphy, one of the smartest and most confident men ever, know my limits and what you’re asking me to do. Axel setting unreasonable expectations here. We got a Ferrari in dirty 80s Detroit and we got Billy going all Rambo and somehow a plant guy in Cali, what more could you ask for? The creative decisions were pure entertainment and sometimes I couldn’t care less about the more intricate factors; this happens to be one of those times. On to the third. Also the strip club thing feels like tradition at this point, I respect it. Oh and the Hugh Hefner and Chris Rock cameos were really cool. Fun fact: One of the first series that I distinctly remember watching was the Hugh Hefner story on Prime, a great watch and man those parties must’ve been something.

Beverly Hills Cop II

Not as good as the first, ending felt weird and not fully formed. Comedy was still funny but preferred the comedy in 1. The jump cut to the car explosion was pretty funny, unintentional or not. Still a funny trio that are fun to watch and to see how they constantly get out of trouble
