The Front Room

actually this movie is fun to watch, is this movie supposed to be horror? Rather than horror i'll consider this movie more as a comedy. The acting of grandmother Kathryn Hunter and Brandy is very good. Although this movie is like a horror comedy but some scenes are also disturbing and make it uncomfortable to watch. Belinda is very strong to accept the crazy grandmother in her house, if I were her I would run away from home and divorce my partner. I mean mental healts matter.

The Front Room

At times, this was highly interesting and entertaining film. But, for the vast majority of the film, it felt off-kilter and awkward, which left me wondering exactly what the purpose of making the film was. Understanding that this is an adaptation of one of Susan Hill’s stories is needed, since it’s not an entirely new idea, but rather a new examination of the source material. With that in mind, it felt a bit odd to have the story of a black woman told by two white men, which I think is where the disconnect is for me. It isn’t their story to tell, which I think translated onto the screen as awkard dialogue and plot progression that didn’t feel natural. It’s a fairly quick watch, but felt much longer than its runtime, which made for a bloated watch. The actors did the best that they could with the script they were given, with Brandy and Kathryn Hunter being the stand-outs, making the best they could out of a bizarre script. Maybe this is one that I’m just going to need more time with, but it was not what I was hoping it would be.
