if this was my crown jewel movie as a filmmaker i’d go off and become a carpenter instead. or maybe attend a seminar on sexism. or maybe just disappear from society altogether and take up a job that would put me on the north pole. i watched this hoping the answer as to why eli roth is still allowed to make movies would suddenly become clear to me, as if i would have some beautiful epiphany about how there’s something of substance belying all the Everything Else, but for all the impact this movie had on me and for all the depth it had i may as well have stared into a puddle on the side of the road for 90 minutes. the cinematography is the reason why this isn’t a single star. you’re better off watching Martyrs instead

the first 30 minutes is pretty much just porn. feels explotative and gross. by the time the horror actually started i had lost most of my interest. very disappointing. also why are there children in this movie? the gore was decent paxton's escape at the end was decent but the end of the movie being kind of good doesnt make up for the beginning being pure shit. 3 out of 10 for the horror only bc every thing else was not worth my time

Holy shit??? Well this was insane. The practical effects was pretty good. The story was compelling. I didn't feel bored one bit. The thought that this probably is happening all over the world is so terrifying. That's what disturbed me the most. I loved the ending! Also the chainsaw scene 💀💀💀 it was so disgusting then it got p funny 😭 /pos
