Always good to take this one in. An enduring panorama of a stricken, mythic South with character vignettes aplenty. Really hit home again on this viewing the earnest role music played then (and hell, plays now) as something connective, transporting, numbing. Remembering my own forays through Mississippi, and especially the delta region, seeing the where and some of the why of the music. Coen brothers slicing out a dusty cross section of Depression-era guts here and serving it a la mode.
