Joker: Folie à Deux
Honestly, I didn’t mind the idea of this movie being a musical from the start. But I didn’t expect the musical stuff to take over the whole film. A sequel that didn't need to be made, didn't need to exist. The plot didn’t really add anything, just showed what happens to the main character in prison. There were some hallucination scenes that felt out of place, and the songs seemed directionless. Plus, there were a ton of repeated courtroom scenes that dragged the story down and made it boring. On the bright side, the movie looked great. The visuals were impressive, with really nice colors and lighting that created a great vibe. The scoring and cinematography were solid too, adding a lot to each scene. The two main actors did a fantastic job they really brought their characters to life and added depth to the story. But the biggest letdown for me was the ending. That was too forced, messed everything up. The choices made at the end didn’t match up with the character development we saw earlier. 2024: Ranked (https://boxd.it/sDDDC)
I really went into this with a clear mind ignoring all the negative reviews and opinions but my gosh… An absolute empty cinema with just myself watching a new release should of been a red flag But from the random songs, the absolutely stupid ENDING which makes absolutely no sense, this movie throws everything out from the first movie and make everything absolutely pointless. Even from scenes of the musical number making me feel awkward to watch. This movie for me, personally was all over the place and makes the Joker obsolete, non-existent.
