Joy Ride

JOY RIDE is a fun little thriller about what happens when you’re a dickhead who fucks around and finds out. I think the first 45 minutes are super solid. Good premise (that reminded me a lot of Supernatural) and some fun back and forth between the brothers. Where the film falls flat for me is that, unlike something like say Duel, the protagonists here deserve what they got and I was very unsatisfied with the ending. But it was JJ Abrams on the pen, are we surprised he doesn’t know how to write a payoff to his (decent) set-up? We are not. Makes a good movie night pick though, and scratches a specific 00s era itch. (Also, one of these stars is specifically for Walker and Zahn’s bare asses. Say one thing for me, say I’m easy to please.)
