Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers

[Producer's Cut] Full-tilt, MST3k levels of Satanic silliness juxtaposed against an actually dark backstory. I can dig it. Anyway, loses what little tension it has repeatedly and doesn't have nearly the same frivolity of the past few entries to compensate. (Treads that mid-90's paranoia thriller line a tad, and thus a bit out of its depth.) Impossible not to giggle at Paul Rudd's creeper, and I love the image of an aging Loomis habitually mindful of anything coming out of Haddonfield, even shock-jock radio hour.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers

What exactly happened with Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers? Was there a discrepancy between the director the and the studio? Was there a problem with the writing, making them re-write the script? It may have been none of these or all of these, but there's one thing that is clear, this film is practically unbearable. There could have been an amazing psychological film here, but instead, there is a hodgepodge of weak lines and odd editing that make the film almost impossible to watch. After hearing so many things about this series, you'd assume that the films wouldn't be as good as the original but still were decent films, but sadly, the Halloween franchise dipped low and never was able to really pick itself up after the sixth film in the series.
