Beverly Hills Cop

83/100 You’re telling me the iconic, the legendary crazy frog song titled ‘Axel F’ actually stands for Eddie Murphy’s Axel Foley and serves as the theme song for Beverly Hills Cop; holy fucking shit man! I’ve been missing out so bad.  This movie was such a pleasant surprise. I don’t often or I think I’ve never said this about a film but this film is steady. It’s so calm in its approach and storytelling, that’s not to say that it doesn’t stand out or isn’t exciting but it’s really a commendation of how well paced and engaging the film is, every scene just flows so smoothly right after the other and you actually feel like part of this adventurous investigation that’s really quite low key, I love the way this is made. Now of course shit like this probably wouldn’t fare in real life but that sucks because if only there were cops who actually helped each other out in doing the right thing, this world would be the place we aspire it to be; every cop is so damn wholesome, every person in this film is wholesome. Even the villain isn’t some hideous motherfucker, he’s just a chill guy looking to make some money of drugs and he’s got the Mike Ehrmantraut as his cute sidekick, it was actually so cool to see him in something else and so much younger, felt like the find of the day for a Better Call Saul fan like me. There’s not much else to say, it’s quite straightforward, it’s more goofy (yes Eddie Murphy’s laugh I’m talking about you) than funny. The scene where both Axel and Jenny laugh felt so bts and really all side actors felt like they were just playing around, a really nonchalant film all round. I enjoyed it man, yes some scenes were unnecessary like the golf club or whatever club that was but it was a wholesome buddy cop film that kept me engaged, I loved it. And can I just say that Lisa Eilbacher is one of the most beautiful woman I’ve seen.
