Insidious: Chapter 2

Insidious Chapter 2 revisits the Lambert family in a different setting with brand new characters and more scares. With the first Insidious film, there was an atmosphere that was bleak and scary. That atmosphere isn't present in the second, but rather adds more scenes in that make the film more dreary. There were some scenes that took my breath away, just in the sense of dread portrayed. Movies that don't fully rely on jump scares and have an atmosphere are the kind that need to be made, not ones that just utilise jump scares (i.e. Insidious Chapter 3 sadly). This movie is very complex. Upon this rewatch, I finally got to fully understand what was happening and I got to see things that I had missed the first time around. This film needs to be watched multiple times, for it is confusing at parts. Once you watch it a couple times, it gets easier to understand. This complex plot answered many questions asked in the first film. I really enjoy how these questions were answered, while adding more things to the film. This complexity and atmosphere together make Insidious Chapter 2 worth the watch. Insidious Chapter 2 is a stellar sequel to one of the most original horror movies that have been released as of late. I'm interested to see if they continue the tale of Elise and her amazing gift.

Insidious: Chapter 2

The follow up to the incredible first film Insidious is equally as chilling and terrifying, allowing us to grow with these characters, and get a glimpse into a much larger, and more terrifying, unseen reality. After this rewatch, Insidious: Chapter 2 has solidified it's place as my favorite film in the series. James Wan and Leigh Whannell are masters at world building, with the ability to create genuine characters and terrifying villains. The Insidious franchise may be looked over by many, as the later installments do start to derail the series, but overall, this is a solid sequel that others need to visit again, as it truly is a great addition.
