When a Stranger Calls
Practically everyone knows the opening sequence to this film. It's hard not to know of the babysitter who receives phone calls, only to find out that the calls are coming from upstairs. While the rest of the film isn't as exciting as the opening sequence, When a Stranger Calls still is a decent thriller. I wasn't sure how they were going to do the film after the opening since I had thought that it was the premise of the entire film, so I was surprised to find the film going into the future. The rest of the film, even the climax, wasn't as exciting as the first scene, but it still was entertaining. I wish they had kept the momentum going from the first scene throughout, but it still was a decent film. When a Stranger Calls isn't necessarily scary, but it does show the fears that many people face while babysitting.

I really dig this. The opening segment is, of course, awesome but I really love the rest of the film as well. Genuinely creepy at many points. If only the remake (https://boxd.it/1XcG) were half as ambitious.
