Gerald's Game

2017 seems to have been chock full of Stephen King adaptations. The television series The Mist, The Dark Tower, IT, Gerald's Game, and 1922 all are being released this year, which is a great year for the horror author. Having seen a couple of these adaptations, it's not a surprise that I venture over to yet another one. Gerald's Game is one of the rare King novels that I actually haven't read yet, as I've read nearly all of his novels. This was a surprise of a film, as I really wasn't sure what I was going to get into. But Gerald's Game really is an entertaining film, throwing in King's typical scares, while still maintaining the internal drama that was going on throughout. This really is how you adapt a Stephen King novel, showing the characters being human, having problems, all the while putting in those horrifying moments that make King so well known. This film is the best King adaptation yet this year, very much beating out the box office smash IT. Gerald's Game is a novel I desperately need to read now, so then I can revisit this film and see how close the film is to the source material.
