I just love when movies go this wild. The effects are nasty in the best way gooey, weird, and unforgettable. It’s like watching science, lust, and horror collide head-on.

There's no argument that From Beyond is one of the most accomplished body horrors in existence — and there's no denying how big of an impact Carpenter's The Thing had on it. But that's beside the point because Stuart Gordon's second foray into Lovecraft's work is its own disgusting little thing, stacked with super-soaked slime, sexual thirst, and a weird desire for munching on brains. I respect Gordon so much here, and it's made me reflect on his other work — he really knew how to flip the script on camp horror and transcribe it into pure excitement and terror. But there's also Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, and Ken Foree to congratulate — they make a pretty great team in this. I wish I'd seen From Beyond sooner because it's easily one of my favorite things I've seen this year.

“𝘐𝘵 𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥…𝘓𝘐𝘒𝘌 𝘈 𝘎𝘐𝘕𝘎𝘌𝘙𝘉𝘙𝘌𝘈𝘋 𝘔𝘈𝘕!” From beyond, and then within! Good ol’ B horror done right with its creature design. It’s truly some fcked up shit. Had me gasp a few times, especially the last act.
