In Cold Blood

After all the other stuff, I got to finishing the book for the first time just today. And now finally digging this adaptation out of the DVD wallet it's been languishing in for a decade. What a haunting picture. It compresses a lot of material and really speeds along, doing probably as good a job re-envisioning as any film of that era could've hoped to. Good bit more, in fact, with sensitivity towards the intimate histories involved. In a way the real testament of it all, book or film, might just be an ongoing & thriving true crime industry. Only major difference is today's camera rarely veers away from the spectacle.
