Nymphomaniac: Vol. I
Auteurs: Lars von Trier Film #12: Nymphomaniac - Vol. I I never thought I'd be saying this, but Nymphomaniac is a fantastic film. While the subject matter is very risque, it's a rather interesting look into a broken woman, possibly looking for some sort of salvation through the recital of her sexual encounters to a complete stranger. Through these tellings, she may open herself up to something, clear her mind of her guilty conscience. Of course, this is something that is probalby very off of what von Trier wants, but it's something that I noticed while watching it. Nymphonaniac: Vol. 1 is a fantastic opening to a surprisingly interesting film, which will be very interesting to see in the second half of the film.

An interesting and sad film. Yes, there’s lots of sex, but it’s so cold and clinical it’s not terribly arousing. The interesting philosophical discussions regarding sin are well done.
