Diary Entry forSiberia
A sublime meditation on one’s life, grief, and regrets. Beautifully shot and composed, Siberia was just the type of existential crisis that I needed to watch. A stunning perfromance from Dafoe, and yet another home run from Abel Ferrara. I can definitely see that this film isn’t going to be for everyone, but I personally found it to be a beautiful film that delves into some of the deepest questions that a human can contemplate. I’ll watch Tommaso tomorrow, since I want to do a Ferrara/Dafoe double bill, and will need to dive deeper into Ferrara’s filmography, since what I’ve seen so far has been very, very good.
