Sorry but this may well be the most overrated film ever made. On this app its rating is low, as it should be, but if you ask anyone who’s seen it what they think of it they will tell you it’s great. Maybe that’s just nostalgia, but this is awful. It’s not funny, boring, and focuses way too much on Mater, who is unbelievably annoying in this. Lightning is literally barely in the film, and when he is he’s doing anything apart from racing. The first one is great, this sucks.

What a weird series! Lunges past any one-off gag a Looney Tune might throw at you and invites open consideration of real-world analogs and ramifications at every turn. I'm certain were I a seven year old the wall-to-wall Mater would've been a riot, but the torture scene would've probably lodged itself in one corner of the mind or another for a much longer while. After the generational bookend of Toy Story 3 and previous year's wage fixing scandal, perhaps this did signal the Disney descent in earnest. (And all this still years before Lasseter's ousting.)
