Diary Entry forEraserhead
English: I can't believe this, what the fuck. I can't think that ending is so incredible, it's so sad and heartbreaking, what the fuck I cried... It's so horrific, yet it's wonderful; it's so weird. I mean, I don't know how to explain it. It's awful, but at the same time, it's like: "Oh my god, I can't believe he did that in his first movie." Like literally the ending is magnifique and it's so weird to say that, because it's an ending that I suffered so much, and well: I loved it. I loved every second of that ending, and I loved every second of that nightmare after the song In Heaven. Literally eraserhead. And those ashes from his mind, like an eraser, showing up at the end: iconic. And then In Heaven... I didn't understand anything, but what I really liked was the whole baby thing. His reaction to everything with the baby was my face the whole time hahaha. And some parts were way too horrifying, like that nightmare he had. Although I can understand the fear of bringing a child into the world and having to take care of it, this metaphor of the fear of parenthood, responsibility, and the weight of bringing a child into a world you don’t understand. And the fact that you can’t even sleep because of that. It’s insane. And I love the fact that the atmosphere is pure noise, and the music is heard way off in the distance with this ball of reverb, like in the fifth dream. It makes the movie so unsettling and so surreal: this noisy atmosphere that constantly plays throughout the movie, I think it represents the protagonist's mental state: full of anxiety in this city full of factories, machines… when the sound that takes over everything is so industrial, and it's fascinating. And In Heaven is that little bit of sweetness in the middle of the mechanical hell, like a space of comfort in the middle of so much anguish, even like it's strange, artificial, and sometimes even a nightmare. I feel like later on, David Lynch became more aware of the power of music in his films, and I feel like if he had leaned a little more into the music within the noisy atmosphere, it would've been more magnificent and iconic. And I think I would've been even more hooked. But surprisingly, I liked it. He knows how to create iconic images, but I still don't know how to rate it. Some scenes were so weird and wtf, but at the same time super unsettling; they scared you, but then you laughed because of the characters' reactions, cause it was so strange, such a weird sensation. And then you felt peace when the noise went away… At the beginning, when I saw the character with his little bag, so shy, walking down those streets, while the noise tames him, that mental noise. The aesthetic fits perfectly with that. The character seems so tender to me for some reason, and everything… I don't know, it's super strange. Incredibly, this was his first film. Already here are all of Lynch's obsessions: sound as a mental atmosphere, the grotesque living side by side with the tender, dreams as narrative logic, and those impossible-to forget images. It was a mix of horror, tenderness, discomfort, nervous laughter, and then this kind of strange peace, and an UNFORGETTABLE ending.

Eraserhead
Sorry but this is up there with the worst films I've ever seen. I know, this is very popular and seen as cool and interesting. I found this boring, not scary in the slightest and dull. I know it was trying to represent parenthood and intercourse and show a bleak depressing reality, but this was awful from start to finish. I've seen lots of Lynch, and this is most defiantly his worst work. Sorry not sorry.
