Spanish: Dios mío, creo que soy fan de este tipo de películas. Amé muchísimo más esta desde el minuto 40. Es todo lo que dije en la reseña anterior (https://boxd.it/bNdGad), pero multiplicada por dos, aunque con algunos matices. Al igual que la primera, es de esas películas que aunque llegue la resolución, aún sigues con la psicosis, con la incomodidad debajo de la piel, con esa desesperación y agonía por lo que acabas de presenciar. Y que una película sea capaz de generar eso en el espectador tiene mucho mérito desde mi visión. Esta es una aventura épica de infarto igual de emocionante que Raiders o incluso superior, en un jungla infernal algo terrorífica; pero más ambiciosa, frenética, salvaje, muchísimo más oscura y turbia, donde los personajes tienen que luchar contra algo mil veces peor que un ejército nazi: los horrores del sacrificio humano, la esclavitud, la explotación infantil y la magia negra. Y aunque siento que no es tan redonda como la primera por la manera en cómo se introduce la aventura, sigue manteniendo la esencia, la personalidad y la audacia que hacen tan icónica a esta saga, evocando aún en la que muchos consideran la más débil de la trilogía original, una adrenalina increíble que, desde mi experiencia, supera a su predecesora. Es más alocada, fantasiosa y violenta. La ambición se nota en la fotografía y los escenarios; y justamente por eso los efectos que no envejecieron bien en la primera, acá se notan muchísimo más, pero aún así se aceptan para la época. Lo demás, todo el tiempo luce de maravilla. Es un viaje que te acelera el corazón, te deja al borde del asiento con la sábana cubriendo mitad de cara ante secuencias muy tensas como la de las minas, la de puente colgante o cualquier otra en ese templo maldito. Por su parte, la banda sonora se sintió más remarcable que la primera. No sé si es que ahora soy más consciente y noto más el impacto de su presencia, pero me gustó muchísimo más. De verdad, que eleva la experiencia aunque no seas consciente de ella, pero sí eres atento, lo notas. En cuanto a los personajes, al inicio Willie, alias la Rubia, era muy irritable. Yo estaba tipo: “Acabas de sobrevivir a una situación de vida o muerte y lo primero que haces es quejarte porque no te gusta mojarte de agua y estar en medio de la intemperie?” El simple hecho de que se queje por esa brecha existente entre su vida privilegiada y las condiciones actuales, lo hace peor. Y entiendo que ella no pidió estar donde está, pero holy shit, al menos agradece que Indy tiene el suficiente ingenio para sacarlos con vida. Y bueno, entiendo que sea el alivio cómico y que cualquiera de nosotros podríamos ser ella en una situación así, pero PRIORIDADES y SUPERVIVENCIA antes que cualquier comodidad. Aunque mejora mucho después y igual tiene muchisimos momentos divertidos y graciosos. El niño, por otro lado, es LO MEJOR DE LA PELÍCULA. La química que tiene con Indy es irresistible, esa dupla se come la película con tanto carisma. Él es tierno, inteligente, atento y pues, como todo niño, comete sus errores, pero tiene los huevos suficientes para luchar con lo poco que tiene y colaborar. Me encantó la vibra de la película y, obviamente, Harrison Ford. En esta entrega, lo masacran más que nunca, pero sigue siendo algo inmune ante tanto peligro. Y a pesar de que sus puntos negativos son más evidentes en esta como algunos efectos, Willie como el alivio cómico algo insoportable en sus inicios, la manera en cómo se introduce la aventura, entre múltiples conveniencias, me reí muchísimo más que en la primera. Me encantó más que se metieran de lleno en lo sobrenatural, en lo ritual, en lo místico. Aumenta ese tinte fantástico que tanto amo y hace que incluso cualquier conveniencia tenga algo de lógica dentro del universo que construyen. Es una película que pone a los personajes al límite, en situaciones extremas, y tienen que salir de ahí de alguna manera y lo hacen bastante bien. Y como pieza de entretenimiento, funciona y está increiblemente bien hecha para sentir la adrenalina. Me hacían falta este tipo de películas donde me permito sentir más que pensar. Y eso me encanta. En esencia, es una excelente precuela como continuación de esta saga legendaria, la cual he disfrutado como niño pequeño desde que inicié a verla ;))) Y aunque me gustó muchísimo más en ciertas partes, siento que los elementos negativos le restan a la épica ambición que se ilustra desde el primer minuto. ------------------------------------------------------------------ English: Oh my God, I think I'm officially a fan of this kind of movie. My new favorite toy ;) I loved this one way more, especially from minute 40 onward. It's everything I said in my previous review, but doubled — just with a few twists. Like the first film, it's one of those movies that even after everything is resolved you're still stuck with that lingering panic, that itch under your skin, that desperation and agony from what you just witnessed. And for a movie to pull that off? That's impressive. This is an insane, heart-pounding epic, just as thrilling as Raiders or maybe even better, set in a hellish jungle that's borderline terrifying. But it's way more ambitious, frantic, wild — darker and dirtier in every possible way. The characters face something a thousand times worse than a Nazi army: human sacrifice, slavery, child exploitation, and black magic. And even though the setup for the adventure isn't as tight as in the first film — definitely my least favourite part — it still keeps the essence, personality and audacity that make this saga so iconic. Even in what many consider the weakest of the original trilogy, the adrenaline is unreal. For me, it actually tops its predecessor. It’s crazier, more fantastical, more violent. You can feel the ambition in the cinematography and set design, and because of that, the effects that aged poorly in the first movie stand out even more here — but honestly, they're easy to forgive for the time. Everything else looks amazing all the way through. It's the kind of ride that spikes your heart rate and leaves you clinging to your seat with a blanket half over your face during those insane set pieces — the mine carts, the rope bridge, literally anything in that secret temple. The score also hit me way harder than in the first film. Maybe I'm more aware now, or maybe it really is that much more impactful, but I loved it. It elevates the whole experience, even if you're not consciously paying attention, but if you are, you absolutely feel it. As for the characters, Willie, a.k.a. the Blonde, was honestly pretty pathetic at first. I was like: “Girl, you just survived a life-or-death scenario and your biggest issue is that you don’t like getting wet or being outside?” The fact that she keeps complaining about the gap between her privileged life and the current conditions makes it even worse. I get she didn't ask to be there, but holy shit, at least thank Indy for being clever enough to keep you alive. She is the comic relief, and any of us could react like her in that situation, sure — but come on. PRIORITIES. SURVIVAL before comfort. She does get better later, but at first she's rough. The kid, though he’s THE BEST PART OF THE MOVIE. His chemistry with Indy is irresistible. Their duo completely steals the show. He’s sweet, smart, alert, and like any kid, he messes up, but he also has the guts to fight with what little he has. I loved the vibe he brings, and of course, Harrison Ford, too. In this one, Indy gets beaten up more than ever, though he's still basically impossible to kill. And even though some of its flaws are more noticeable — a few effects, Willie’s loud comic-relief moments at the beginning, the way the adventure kicks off, and several conveniences — I still laughed way more than I did in the first film. I loved that they dove straight into the supernatural, the ritualistic, the mystical. It boosts that fantastical touch I adore and makes even the wildest conveniences feel logical within the universe they’re building. This movie pushes its characters to the edge, throws them into the most extreme situations, and forces them to crawl their way out, and they do it well. As pure entertainment, it works beautifully. It’s incredibly well-crafted for what it aims to do: make you feel the adrenaline. I really missed movies that let me feel more than think. And I love that. It’s an excellent prequel and a worthy continuation of this legendary saga, one that has made me really, really happy, like a little kid, ever since I first started watching it ;))) And even though I enjoyed it a lot more in certain parts, I feel that the negative elements take away from the epic ambition it sets up from the very first minute.
