I'm not an animal! I am a human being! I am… a man! My life is full, because I know I'm loved. --------------------------------------------------------------- I’m not an animal! I am a human being! I am… a man! English: The Elephant Man is a reflection of what we most need in this world: moral kindness and true compassion. We need to be kinder, more generous. To offer a word of encouragement, a hug; to be a Mr. Keating to those who need it most. Because those who wipe away the tears of others don’t have time to wipe their own... Not because they don’t feel them, but because they find such genuine joy in the act of loving, their own tears come only from the happiness of seeing someone else feel better. This is a film full of heart. I truly believe everyone should watch it at least once in their life. John Merrick is such a beautiful, intelligent soul. Every time he spoke, I felt joy. His sweetness, gentleness, and pure desire to be treated with dignity and kindness were deeply moving. Despite a life of abuse, humiliation, and exploitation, he was fortunate to meet people filled with love and compassion; people who gave him back the joy of being alive. It’s heartbreaking to think there were those who only saw him as a source of profit. And even more painful when you remember this is based on a true story. My life is full, because I know I’m loved. A wonderful, devastating, and unforgettable film with performances that reach your soul.

The Elephant Man

This is really a depressing and compassive film. Both absurdity sense but mostly human, this film is another take in the dark side of humanity and the beauty and virtues in it, with powerful acting and a top-notch directing. In a nutshell, it make me sob.

The Elephant Man

The Elephant Man affected me more than I expected. The film is extremely quiet, almost unspectacular, but that's precisely what makes everything so much more intense. It's essentially about how people look at and treat someone who is "different"—and how commonplace that seems to everyone. The line I am not an animal particularly resonated with me because it builds throughout the entire film. I also found it powerful that the film doesn't simply portray clear "good" and "evil." Even those who help him benefit in some way, which makes it uncomfortably real. The ending was simply sad, yet simultaneously calm and dignified. Overall, another magnificent film from Lynch you can't hate him. RIP
